Heading for ICA?

The paper Iris Chyi and I collaborated, Competing with Whom? Where? And How? An Empirical Study of Online Newspaper Competition, was accepted by the Journalism Studies Division, ICA, Singapore, June 22-26, 2010. The manuscript is currently under review by a journal. Am I heading for Singapore? Well, it depends. The travel costs a lot, but more importantly, it depends on my progress on my dissertation. But really hope to see you all!!

Jacie had another article accepted by Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly today, "Use of and Satisfaction with Newspaper Sites in the Local Market: Exploring Differences Between Hybrid and Online-Only Users."

The other article that was also accepted by JMCQ earlier this year, "Is Online News an Inferior Good? Examining the Economic Nature of Online News Among Users," is coming out in the Autumn issue this year.

Another Fellowship

Jacie has just received the Pic Wagner Endowed Graduate Fellowship from School of Journalism, the University of Texas at Austin. This is the second fellowship and the fourth academic award she has received this year.

 

Graduate Scholarship Awarded

Jacie has been awarded Ada Frances Miller Endowed Graduate Scholarship in Journalism for the academic year 2009-10.

This is the third academic award she has received this year, following UT Graduate School's Professional Develpment Award and AEJMC Newspaper Division's Top Student Paper Award.
